Sexual exploitation of children increasing drastically

WASHINGTON (SINCLAIR BROADCAST GROUP) — Studies published Thursday revealed that more children are being sexually exploited than ever before. A two-year global study found that the sexual exploitation “is an endemic phenomenon throughout the world.” “The report findings come despite a 20-year multi-sector effort to end the Sexual Exploitation of Children in Travel and Tourism (SECTT),” a release on the studies’ findings reads. “The extent of SECTT has increased drastically and its nature has changed dramatically,” according to the global report. HANDS families celebrate annual picnic

Families from the Family & Children’s Place HANDS program celebrated their annual picnic Friday, July 1, at George Rogers Park. In all, 201 people attended the picnic, representing 55 families, making it the largest HANDS picnic ever. The picnic, sponsored by agency friend and partner WellCare, had a carnival theme and featured  games such as can toss, cake walk, bean bag toss, duck pond and plinko;  face painting, snow cones and a visit by The Bubble Bug, a car that blows thousands of bubbles. Celebrating St. Anne’s Healthy Families program

Last week, Quaniqua Carthan, of the Office of Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, delivered a proclamation from Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, declaring July 14, Healthy Families Class Day in the city! Founded in 1996, the St. Ann’s Healthy Families Program is a ministry of Dismas Charities, with special assistance from St. William Catholic Church and the community at large.  The program meets at the Dismas Charities St. Ann’s Campus, 1515 Algonquin Parkway, with an average attendance of 15 women, some with children in tow, and occasionally, a man or two.
