Evan Garmon – September Ambassador of the month

This is one in a series of question and answer sessions with Family & Children’s Place Ambassadors, young business and community leaders helping build support for and awareness of the agency and its work.

QUESTION:   Why did you get involved as an Ambassador with FCP?
ANSWER: The impact of child abuse goes much further than people see.  When I learned about the long term economic impact abuse and neglect have in our community, I wanted to partner with Family and Children’s Place in their efforts to break the cycle.

EvanGarmonQ:  What’s your day job?
A: I make my living by providing commercial insurance and risk management services to business all over Kentuckiana.

Q:  What person do you consider your greatest influencer in terms of your own personal values?
A: Charles Garmon, my grandfather, is a man I have always admired.  His community involvement in many different organizations over the years, as well as his business acumen and love for the church, have made him the man I aspire to be like.  I will consider myself successful when I become half the man I see him as today.

Q:  What do you hope to achieve by 50?
A: By the time I reach 50, I hope that I will have made a lasting, positive impact on the community I live in.  I also hope that by that time I will have created the largest regional insurance and risk management firm in the Kentuckiana area.

Q:  What does a perfect day look like for you?
A: My perfect day would be sitting on a beach with my wife as we watch and listen to the waves roll in and out.

Q:  What’s your favorite restaurant, and why do you love it?
A: It changes week to week as I try new things, but I would have to say my overall favorite restaurant is Kansai in Clarksville, Ind.  Mollie and I love sushi and they have a great selection and good portion sizes.  I have not had a roll or for that matter a meal that I have not enjoyed.
