Annual Campaign

Many of us have a great deal to be thankful for and warm memories of families and happy childhoods often fill our hearts and minds. Unfortunately, many children’s lives are far from warm and happy – and are often torn apart by the destruction of violence, abuse and neglect.

Five-year old Tim had a very violent home life. He regularly witnessed his parents fighting and was often caught in the middle of physically abusive episodes. Tim came to Family & Children’s Place after being expelled from an early childhood program for violent and disruptive behavior. These were the behaviors that were modeled for Tim at home, were all that he knew and had he become a danger to himself and others.

Tim was in treatment at Family & Children’s Place for over a year. He is now able to verbally express his feelings, including anger, in appropriate ways and his aggression has greatly decreased. Tim has not yet completely recovered from his abuse, but because of his experience at Family & Children’s Place his future holds promise.

Family & Children’s Place is focused on ensuring that children have safe families, stable homes and opportunities to have productive lives. The families we serve are often faced with unimaginable challenges, and our services are their only chance to overcome those experiences and obstacles.
