Appreciating Kosair Charities

Family & Children’s Place deeply appreciates the support of its partners, who help the agency protect and heal children and families. Last year, F&CP sponsored a billboard thanking Kosair Charities for its help, including funding toward the agency’s new campus and Kosair Charities Child Advocacy Center. Here, F&CP President and CEO Pam Darnall presents a photo of that billboard to members of the Kosair Charities Board as a way of celebrating the important partnership.

Holy Cross student Morgan Gailor a champion for children

Morgan Gailor is a champion for children and for Family & Children’s Place! The Holy Cross student stopped by the Zane Street office Wednesday to present the agency with $230 and some supplies she raised and collected through softball clinics, selling protein bars at her local gym and just asking people to give. Gailor is passionate about the F&CP mission – to end child abuse, in particular, to help raise awareness of its impact on communities, and raised the money and supplies as part of her senior year community project. She graduates this year and will attend Campbellsville University in […]

‘Stomp the silence’ at 5k run/walk for Family & Children’s Place

Katya Estes wants to “stomp the silence” about child abuse, so the teen, a survivor herself, is putting together a 5k run/walk to raise awareness for Family & Children’s Place, which she credits for helping her heal. “Stomp the silence: Taking steps toward healing,” will be Saturday, April 18, at the Seneca Park Loop. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the run/walk kicking off at 9 a.m. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the walk comes five years to the day after her abuser’s sentencing hearing. Despite being convicted for sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 12, […]

F&CP is Louisville Linked Community Partner of the Month

Thanks to Jefferson County Public Schools Louisville Linked for choosing Family & Children’s Place as its Community Partner of the Month. Louisville Linked helps children get what they need outside the classroom so they can be successful in the classroom, and many JCPS students and families receive services through F&CP. A great partnership!

Joe Clay – March Ambassador of the month

This is one in a series of question and answer sessions with Family & Children’s Place ambassadors, young business and community leaders helping build support and awareness of the agency and its work. QUESTION:  Why did you get involved as an Ambassador with F&CP? ANSWER: I grew up in a small town and saw firsthand how ignoring abuse toward kids can affect their lives. If by being an ambassador I can help change one child’s life, then it’s all worth it to me. Q: What’s your day job? A: I’m a sales representative for Liberty Mutual. Q: What person do […]

Swing a club, stamp out child abuse

Family & Children’s Place is planning its 12th annual golf scramble, Friday, June 12, at the popular Persimmon Ridge Golf Club. The annual scramble, which raises critical funds for the agency’s work to stop and prevent child abuse and neglect, and to help children and families move from hurting to healing, is the perfect event for both avid and casual golfers. The course, which won the 2007 Golf Digest Outstanding Design Award, plays through woods, over creeks around lakes and through a 120-foot elevation change. Cost for an afternoon of golf is just $840 per foursome (with no sponsorship) or […]

Mental Health First Aid training available

Family & Children’s Place is offering two mental health trainings – for adults assisting young people and for adults 18 and over – in March and April. The all-day courses will help increase your understanding of mental health issues and treatments, connect more people with care and reduce stigma. This is helpful information given that many people with mental disorders delay seeking help but are more open to it when suggested by someone they trust. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of different types of mental illnesses, how they can affect a person’s daily life and how you can […]

Make a fast break for Family & Children’s Place

If you’re a fan of the NCAA tournament, you’ll love Brackets for Good! Each nonprofit gets to keep funds it raises and the winner receives an additional $10,000! Indianapolis and Louisville each have their own brackets this year.
