Gheens Foundation grants $50,000 gift to Family & Children’s Place

Grant will enable agency to help and support underserved children and families in Louisville’s West End LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 13, 2018) – The Gheens Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to Family & Children’s Place, which leads efforts in Louisville and Southern Indiana to prevent, stop, and treat child violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Students work together to help the homeless

Recently, students in the agency’s Hazelwood Elementary out of school time summer program spent a week learning about social activism and took on homelessness as a challenge they wanted to address. Students from the New Albany, Ind., school put together homeless care kits – socks, sanitary wipes, bottles of water, first aid kits, toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm, and granola bars as well as Metro United Way information cards and resource lists. Harriet Lair rejoins board to help guide child abuse prevention agency to greater impact Family & Children’s Place is pleased to welcome Harriet Lair back to its Board of Directors. The agency, which is celebrating its 135th anniversary, leads efforts in the Louisville area to prevent, stop, and heal child violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Lair, a vice president, commercial relationship manager, at Fifth Third Bank, left the board a year ago when her term expired, but members elected to invite her to rejoin the board.
